FRONT ROYAL, Va. – Two consistent halves by the FCC men's basketball team handed head coach Darryl Whiten his first win as a collegiate head coach Wednesday night, ousting Christendom College by the score of 72-66. The Cougars registered four players in double figures led by Jack McGaha who poured in a team-high 20 points. McGaha turned in a stellar shooting night, connecting on 8-of-16 field goals, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. McGaha logged 39 minutes of action for FCC.
McGaha had plenty of help from his teammates in the win. Point guard Tyriel Collins quarterbacked the FCC offense and filled up the stat sheet. Collins chipped in with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four swipes. Alexander Williams and Brayden Jones scored 11 points each.
The Cougars built a 45-34 lead in the second half, but the Crusaders put together an 11-0 run to tie it up at 45-45 at the 12:37 mark. FCC took control from there as Tyriel Collins registered a steal and layup with 6:38 left in the contest as the Cougars built a 62-52 lead and would hang on from there to earn the victory.
FCC turned in one of their better shooting performances on the season, hitting on 24-of-59 field goals, including 9-of-25 from beyond the arc. The Cougars knocked down 15-of-21 from the charity stripe to go along with nine steals in the win.
