Frederick Community College Cougars baseball kept their momentum rolling with a pair of dominant road wins over Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack on Wednesday, pushing their overall record to 40-6, 24-4 in Region 20 divisional contests, while extending their win streak to eight games.
In Game 1, the Cougars used a balanced offensive attack and efficient pitching to secure a 10-0 victory in six innings. Cooper Harris led the way at the plate with three hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in three runs. Jacob Downey added two hits and two RBI, while Shawn Karpaitis, Braydon Kelman, and Casey Westerberg each chipped in with run-scoring hits. On the mound, Evan Hassinger improved to 6-0, tossing 4.2 shutout innings in relief, allowing just two hits and striking out six. Frederick's bats racked up 13 hits, and the defense held strong behind a pitching staff that allowed only three total hits.
Game 2 followed a similar script as the Cougars overwhelmed the Wolfpack once again, this time by a score of 11-1 in five innings. Jacob Downey continued his stellar day with two more hits, two stolen bases, and an RBI. Nick Miller broke the game open with a 2-for-3 performance that included three runs batted in, while Joshua Erd added two hits and three stolen bases. Jacob Seek turned in a strong outing on the mound, allowing just two hits and striking out eight to earn the complete game win and move to 3-1 on the season.
The Cougars have now outscored opponents 83-18 over their last eight games in the past seven days. The Cougars will look to keep their hot streak alive on Sunday, April 26, when they travel to Allegany College of Maryland for a doubleheader starting at 1 PM.
