Frederick Community College Cougars continued its impressive run with a commanding sweep over the Community College of Allegheny County Wildcats, improving to 29-5 overall and 19-3 in Region 20 DII play.
In game one, right-hander Adam Horst was lights out, tossing a complete game while allowing just two hits and one run to secure his second win of the season. The Cougars jumped ahead early with a three-run first inning, sparked by Jacob Downey's two-run single and a Cooper Harris RBI double. Downey stayed hot in the third with a sacrifice fly, and FCC padded the lead in the sixth thanks to Casey Westerberg's RBI double. The Cougars' defense was sharp behind Horst, who struck out five and kept Allegheny's offense quiet until a late sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Game two followed a similar script, but the bats came alive even earlier. Frederick exploded for six runs in the first inning, highlighted by a string of hits from Hunter Lee, Shawn Karpaitis, Downey, Luis Perez Alfaro, and Harris. Alfaro's two-run double and Harris's RBI shot underscored a relentless offensive approach. Lee finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Downey, Alfaro, and Harris each drove in multiple runs. On the mound, Hunter Barnes improved to 6-0 with four strong innings, backed by clean relief work from Jordan Capuano and Matthew Koeneke.
With momentum firmly on their side, the Cougars now turn their attention to a road doubleheader against Prince George's Community College on Thursday, April 10, with the first pitch scheduled for 1 PM.
