Frederick Community College Cougars women's basketball battled until the final buzzer but came up just short in a 61-55 loss to Howard Community College Dragons. The Cougars started strong, taking a three-point lead after the first quarter, but struggled in the second and third quarters as Howard pulled ahead. Entering the final period down by 15, Frederick mounted a furious comeback, outscoring Howard 18-9, but ultimately ran out of time.
Bre Lawyer led the offensive charge with 18 points, including two three-pointers, while Heaven Murray contributed 11 points, and eight rebounds, and four assists. Makayla Wiley added nine points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Alaysia Jemmott controlled the paint with 12 rebounds and eight points.
With the loss, Frederick falls to 4-11 on the season and looks to bounce back at home against CCBC Catonsville on February 5 at 5:00 PM.
