Bio

Michael Simone joined the Cougars’ staff as the Sports Information Coordinator in September 2022 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics and Communications in January 2025. In this role, he oversees all aspects of athletic communications, media relations, and game operations for Frederick Community College’s athletic programs.

He manages the department’s website, social media presence, and all publications, maintains statistical records, and coordinates live-streaming production for home athletic events. As the primary media contact for Cougars Athletics, Michael works to enhance the visibility of FCC’s student-athletes, coaches, and teams within the campus community and beyond. Additionally, he assists with departmental planning, the scheduling of seven sports teams, event management, and the overall promotion of the college’s athletic brand.

Before joining Frederick Community College, Simone spent ten years at Montgomery College, where he served as the Athletics Coordinator and Sports Information. In that role, he was the lead media contact, managed sports information for nine NJCAA-sponsored programs, assisted the Director of Athletics with daily operations, and supported student-athlete academic success while overseeing all athletic communications and promotional efforts.

In May 2018, Simone earned a master’s degree in Sports Administration from the College of Business at Ohio University after receiving a bachelor’s degree in communications from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, in 2011.

Originally born in Washington, D.C., Simone grew up in Wheaton, MD, and resides in Frederick County with his wife Lauren, their son Griffin, and their dog Benny.
